Bali!!! At Last!!!

Wow, what a crazy thirty six hours of my life. I am currently writing this from an amazing hotel in Bali, Indonesia! It is the middle of the night and I’m still hotter than I have ever been in my life. Aside from the heat and a little jet lag, things are going all right here.

After a weird night in Singapore, we left on our third and final flight to Denpasar. The flight went by in a flash and we found ourselves rubbing sleep out of our eyes outside the airport in Denpassar. Then we spent an hour in what Gaylon described to me as, “The most interesting car ride of your lives,” which was 100% accurate. My neck began to hurt from trying to look 5 places at once. The culture shock, jet lag, and mild starvation combined into a complete exhaustion, but the excitement kept us awake. We swam in the pool for awhile and got settled in. We met the amazing staff at the hotel who I want to be best friends with, as well as two of our teachers Anom and Nonik. After a great meal we all passed out, which was needed.

Our first day started with an early walk through the rice paddies which was very magical. In this landscape I felt like an alien on a different planet. We returned and began to explore Ubud some more, which is one of my favorite things to do. That about brings me to where I am now, writing this, deliriously tired, but very happy. It’s only been a day and a half but it’s felt more like 3 months. Hope everyone back home is having a good time too.
